Customs Guide

Moving Personal Effects to The Bahamas

A practical overview for movers, forwarders and their customers shipping household goods to Nassau. Duty treatment is decided by Bahamas Customs for each shipment — contact us to review your specific case before the goods ship.

Before the Goods Ship

Share the packing inventory and the customer's status (for example returning resident, new resident or work-permit holder) with us early. This helps confirm which documents are required and avoids delays at the port.

Typical Documents

  • Original or telex-released bill of lading
  • Detailed packing inventory
  • Passport / identification of the owner
  • Residency, work permit or other status documents, where applicable

Duties and Concessions

Whether duty applies — and whether any concession is available — depends on the owner's status and the goods, and is determined by Bahamas Customs. We'll help prepare the entry and explain what Customs requires.

After Clearance

Once released, we truck the container and arrange delivery to the residence on a scheduled date.
